Average hourly wages for the month were $20.52 per hour, which translates to $835.16 per week. Hourly wages increased over the last month from $20.38 per hour an increase of 0.7%. Weekly wages decreased over the last month from $851.88 per week a decrease of 2.0%.
A year ago, the average hours worked was 41.3 hourse per week, which is a decrease of 1.5%. Hourly wages have increased over the last year from $19.78 per hour, an increase of 3.7%. Weekly wages have increased over the last year from $816.91 per week, an increase of 2.2%.

The unemployment rate increased in July, 2019 from 2.4% to this months' 2.5%. A year ago the unemployment rate was 2.4%, 0.1% higher today. The total workforce in July, 2019 was 1,723,304, which is 0.3% higher than last months 1,717,933 and is 0.3% higher than last years 1,686,066. The total number of unemployed in Iowa is 42,777 as compared to the revised figure from last month of 41,439 and 41,019 unemployed a year ago.
